The plot of land where the house was to be located is located in a green neighborhood on the edge of a forest. It was important for the residents that the house would blend in with the surrounding nature. Hugo: ‘Hence the cladding of the facade with wood. It is crafted according to the Shou Sugi Ban burning technique , inspired by ancient Japanese traditions. The wood is lightly burned, then stained and then oiled. .
